I am an artist with profound respect for our natural world and its beauty. My choice of medium is metalsmithing and jewelry. I am honored to create jewelry that becomes personal adornment for the individual, sparking a connection between the mystical world and the present.
I fabricate in sterling silver and gold. My designs focus on the stone, creating meaningful inspiration for myself and the wearer. Like our natural world, my jewelry is powerful, individual, and beautiful for one to enjoy and behold.
The first time I used a Smith SilverSmith Air/Acetylene torch was in high school. I was 16 years old and fell in love. I had previously taken various courses in drawing, pen & ink, and painting. Forming metal using fire and hammers was a game changer for me. The first piece I designed was a carved wax model of a ring cast from scrap gold and a damaged diamond. I still wear this ring today. It is my talisman, reminding me never to give up on my dream.
I studied business with a minor in art. Subsequently, I pursued metalsmithing and jewelry making, which I continued until the fall of the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001. This was a pivotal moment for me. The world changed, the economy and galleries closed. My husband and I were blessed with a child. I ended up going back to school to become a registered nurse, working part-time and raising our daughter. I put down my tools for many years. Then, one day, something magical happened. I was looking at the ring I made back in high school. This was the day I decided to open up my studio. I continued from where I had left off so many years ago, and I have never looked back.
